Abstract

604,117. Radial and axial cylinder motors. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., NAYLOR, J. C., and FIELDHOUSE, J. N. Aug. 15, 1944, Nos. 15559. 22610 and 25437. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Springs 16, Fig. 3, provide an initial loading for the valve 10 of an axial or radial revolving cylinder hydraulic motor which has a sealing, sliding connection with the ends of the inlet and outlet passages 22, 23 and with the cylinder face having inlet and outlet ports 7, the ports on the valve being enlarged on the outer side to enable the liquid to hold the valve in sealing relation with the cylinder block. Additional ports closed either by rams or by the face of the casing may assist the valve loading. The radial motor may have an eccentric driving ring 20, the eccentricity of which is adjustable by rams actuated by liquid against spring supports for the ring. The axial pump shown in Fig. 12 is actuated by a swash-plate connected to the pistons by spherical heads exposed through an axial bore 66 through the pistons to the pressure of the liquid. Pressure relief ports may be formed through the valves. The radial cylinder motor may have an elliptical driving ring. Specification 604,168 is referred to.
