604,082. Devices for facilitating pipe cleaning. BLAKEBOROUGH, R., and BLAKEBOROUGH, R. L. Nov. 23, 1945, No. 31681. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] A device for facilitating descaling or like servicing operations in pipe circuits comprises a body part 1 adapted,to be included as a permanent fixture in the circuit, and a plug part 10. The body part is formed with a chamber 4 having ports 2a, 3a communicating with the pipe circuit and a lateral opening 4a normally closed by means of the dome member 7 and cap 9 (Fig. 3). The plug has a duct 12 adapted to communicate with one of the ports and with the source of servicing fluid supply, the latter being achieved by means of a stem 13 which screws into the plug and passes through the opening (Fig. 3) in the dome 7 and through the member 14 (Fig. 1) which replaces the cap 9 when the device is in use. A compression spring 15 bears against the top of the plug, and washers 11 are interposed between it and the ports. A plug with a rectangular plan and slightly tapered in vertical section is shown; the plug may be frustoconical or other suitable shape. The chamber is similar to the plug in each case.
