Abstract

603,800. Stapling-machines. GOODMAN, L. L., VANDERVIEREN, F. A. J., (trading as GOODMAN & VANDERVIEREN), and VANDERVIEREN, A. A. Oct. 30, 1945, No. 28738. [Class 89(iii)] In a desk-type stapling-machine the plunger a is raised by a lever g, a single link l and a single subordinate lever n; and is forced downwards by the spring c. The lever g is pivoted to the main frame r by a pivot k and is connected to the subordinate lever n by the link l. The lever n is pivoted to the main frame by a pivot q and a slot p. Raising the lever g against the action of the spring h raises the lever n and plunger a which is engaged by the nose of the lever n. Further and final upward movement of the lever g disengages the lever n from the base of the plunger a and releases the latter to drive a staple. On the downward return movement of the lever g the slot p slides on the pivot q. shortening the length of the lever n, and a spring s turns the lever n so that it reengages the base of the plunger a.
