Abstract

603,577. Cycle brakes. ETABLISSEMENTS BOWDEN SOC. ANON. BELGE. March 5, 1945, No. 5395. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1941. [Class 136 (i)] In brakes for bicycles or other cycles, of the kind having a lever supporting each brake block holder and each formed of a pair of substantially triangular plates 12-12<SP>1</SP> connected together by their corners in spaced parallel arrangement, the connection at one corner serving also as a pivot, at another corner for connection to an operating means 8-8<SP>1</SP>, and the brake block being attached at the third corner by means which also serve to secure the plates together, the plates are dished towards each other at this third corner for direct engagement. A bolt 13 passes through a hole in the dished corners 12<SP>2</SP>-12<SP>3</SP> and has a cylindrical part 14 with a hole 15 through which a spindle 16 passes and is held between two sockets 19, 20, each having two diametrical grooves 21 partially attached to the spindle 16 which bears the cups 17 of the brake shoes 18. Springs 29 provide for recoil of the levers when braking has finished. The corners where the pivoting takes place are held apart by a ring 27 through which passes a pivot pin 24<SP>1</SP> attached to one of the branches 25 of the fork.
