Abstract
603,550. Animal feeding devices. FULLWOOD & BLAND, Ltd., R. J., and SKETT, H. E. Oct. 24, 1945, No. 28083. [Class 5(ii)] [Also in Group XVIII] Relates to apparatus for supplying a predetermined weight of food from a hopper a to a pivotally mounted receptacle d from which the weighed food is delivered to a manger. According to the invention the discharge of food from the hopper a to the receptacle d is effected by a manually operated screw conveyer b located in the lower part of the hopper. Furthermore, the receptacle is associated with a pointer adapted to indicate the weight of food in the receptacle. The receptacle d is carried by a horizontal rod e with a handle f and moves downwards with increase of weight. The rod e passes through a block g pivotally mounted on trunnions g<SP>1</SP> turning in bearings which may be carried by the hopper a. A rod h carrying a counterweight j is secured to the underside of the block g. As the receptacle d moves downwards the weight of the contents is indicated by a pointer k travelling across a scale on the side of the hopper a. The receptacle d is emptied by a pull and a turn of the handle f, the pull releasing a two-part clutch which locks the receptacle in position, one part p of said clutch being carried by the rod e and the other part q by the sleeve g.
