736,787. Weighing apparatus. NEAVERSON, R. A. April 25, 1952, No. 10423/52. Class 143. [Also in Group XXX] A vehicle for transporting solid materials, e.g. coal, in bulk and delivering it in measured quantities in a sack, comprises a hopper 10, which may be an integral part of the vehicle or removably mounted thereon, and is provided with a movable floor in the form of an endless belt 16 which conducts the material to the delivery aperture 12 in the rear wall 11. A further belt 36, which is adjustable in a vertical direction by means of screw and slot 41, 42, may be arranged above the material. The delivery aperture is provided with a hinged flap 15. A weighing device comprising a balance lever 19 and weight W is supported at the top of the wall 11, one arm of the balance lever carrying a trunnion 20 and a pair of articulated links 25 which support a bag B on hooks 27. Mounted on the wall 11 are vertical guides 28 for a slide 29 having a platform 30, and by means of a rope 31 attached to the upper end of the slide and passing over a pulley the slide may be raised or lowered. An aperture 33 in the slide registers with the aperture 12 when the slide is lowered and the flap 15 when lowered forms a ramp which directs the material into the mouth of the bag. When the slide is raised it closes the delivery aperture. The flap 15 may alternatively be pivoted to the slide 29. The slide is provided with a pair of projecting brackets 34 which cooperate with projections on a cross bar 26 of the bag support so that when the slide is raised the weight of the bag and its contents is taken by the platform 30 and the bag is raised to a convenient height for removal. The weighing apparatus may be levelled by means of adjusting screws 49 and 52. The rear wall 11 together with the weighing device, bag supporting device, and slide 29, may be made detachable from the hopper so that a wall merely enclosing the rear of the hopper and providing a delivery aperture may be substituted.
