Abstract
487,879. Weighing-apparatus. TAYLOR, R. J. S. Dec. 31, 1936, No. 35825. [Class 143] Apparatus for use in the feeding of animals comprises a main container for the foodstuffs, with sloping walls leading to a relatively small opening at its lower end, manuallyoperable means for opening and closing the opening, and a weighing mechanism adapted for supporting, beneath the opening, a container which is movable relatively thereto. As shown, the movable container 24 is attached to a rod 29 passing freely through holes in a weighing lever 16 fulcrumed on a pivot 17 and supported by weighing springs 18. The food is admitted from the main container 12 by a manually-operated slide 13 which is closed by the operator when a pointer 19 indicates that the requisite weight has been delivered. The operator now pushes in, and then rotates, a rod 35 connected to the rod 29 by a loop 29a. The movable container 24 is thus moved over two oppositely-directed shoots 32 and the contents is tipped down one or other of the shoots according to the direction of rotation. The shoots direct the food to troughs or mangers. Stops 37 limit the rotation of the movable container. In a modification, the movable container is provided with trunnions resting in notches in the weighing lever. The operator after weighing out the requisite quantitydetaches and empties the contents into the animal's trough. Specification 439,382 is referred to.
