Abstract

603,136. Spectacle lenses. ABBEY, A. (American Optical Co.). Dec. 18, 1945, No. 34274. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] A series of lenses, or of lens blanks, corrected to reduce marginal or oblique errors to a minimum, each member of the series differing in power from the adjacent members is divided into groups, the members of each group having the same " base curve " computed in accordance with the distance between the centre of rotation of the eye and the lens when in use, such distance varying from group to group. The invention is based on the fact'that the distance from the cornea to the centre of rotation of the eye is proportional to the refractive error of the eye. The lenses or blanks are computed as described in Specification 262,319, [Class 97 (i)], the rotational distance being varied from group to group. A graph illustrating the variation of oblique errors with the rotational distance is included in the Specification.
