Abstract

603,049. Excavators and dredgers. TEMPLE, H.R.H. Nov. 16, 1945, No. 30884. [Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a bucket ladder dredger or excavator, the loading run of the bucket chain is supported between the tumblers by one or more endless chains; the unloaded run may be similarly supported. The bucket chain 10 is carried by a ladder 14 pivoted at 13 and dumps spoil through troughs 17, 18 to a trammel 19, a channel member 21 forming a guide. The upper and lower runs of the bucket chain are supported respectively by pairs of endless chains 23, 25, running over rollers 24, 26 ; at intervals, adjacent ends of links of the chains 23, 25 may be provided with upstanding portions which, when in contact, form semicircular recesses supporting the ends of shafts 27, Fig. 6, which pass through the pivots of the bucket chain. The upper and lower tumblers 12, 11 each comprise driving members 29 bolted together and keyed to a shaft 30, the tumblers having rings 28 or segmental elements bolted thereto and provided with recesses adapted to receive the ends of shafts 27.
