Abstract

602,646. Automatic liquid - level control systems. ROYSTON, G. Nov. 26, 1945, No. 31781. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXVIII and XL (b)] In a continuous-reading density recording or indicating apparatus, for fluid materials, a float disposed in the fluid regulates the amount of light falling on a photo-electric cell. In the embodiment shown, the tank 10 containing the fluid is fitted with lid 11 supporting the transparent tube 13 in which slides the spindle 17 fitted to float 16. The casing 18 has two openings 18a and 18b, mutually diametrically opposite, and supports the lamp 20 and photoelectric cell 24 so that light from the former falls on the latter. The light beams from the lamp, falling on the cell are intercepted by rod 17 to an extent dependent on the rod height and thus also on the fluid density. Automatic regulation of the fluid density may be effected by control of valve or sluices by the light cell or by closure of contacts 14, 15 at specific points on the travel of the spindle 17.
