Abstract

1428545 T.L.C.development tank Y TAKESHITA 13 April 1973 [19 Oct 1972] 18020/73 Heading B1H Apparatus for thin-layer or paper chromatography comprises a solvent container 1, an air-tight cover 3 for said container, said container and cover defining a developing chamber in which a quantity of liquid solvent 20 is disposed, the atmosphere in said chamber above said liquid solvent being saturated with vapour of said solvent, support means mounted on said cover and extending into said chamber, said support means suspending at least one developing plate 18 within said solvent chamber, and threaded actuating means operatively connected to said support means and actuable externally of said solvent chamber for raising and lowering said support means within said chamber, whereby said developing plate can be subjected to the vapour-saturated atmosphere within said chamber above the quantity of liquid solvent before being lowered into said liquid solvent. As shown, a stem depending within sleeve 5 from knob 8 is threaded into a blind bore in the end of member 6 so that turning the knob raises or lowers the said member.
