Abstract

602,580. Two-part couplings. GRAF, A. E. Dec. 27, 1945, No. 34913. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVII] One part of a plug-and-socket device carries a rotary member of a switch and moves stepby-step under the influence of resilient clamping members. Plug pins 6, 7 are secured to an insulating disc 3 having a guard 4, and this assembly is rigidly mounted on an axle 2 having a square shank portion 23 clamped between spring-biassed bars 24. The pin 6 is permanently connected to the terminal 15 through a wiping contact 9 engaging an annular fixed contact 22. As the axle 2 is rotated, the pin 7 is in turn connected with terminals 12, 13, 14 through a wiping contact 11 and co-operating fixed contacts 18 ; an arrow marked on the disc 3 indicating the switching position. A projection 30 rotates with the axle 2 and engages a stop 31 to limit rotation. In a modification, Figs. 9, 12, the pin 6 is connected to the terminal 15 through a disc 41, the axle 2 and a disc 42 and the pin 7 is connected to one of three other terminals 13 through wiping contacts 47, 17. A cam 54 provides snapaction between switching positions.
