Abstract
602,391. Agricultural implements. OLDHAM, S. H., GILKS, C. W., MIDGLEY, S. H., and TRIGG, N. Oct. 15, 1945, No. 26866. [Class 6(i)] A plough of the type having disccoulters mounted in the path of the shares is characterised by the provision, in front of each disc-coulter, of a curved slipper for flattening the stubble, the slipper having a rearward extension on one side of the disc for pressing down the stubble on that soil which is about to be turned up by the share. In the form shown, each disc 10 is mounted between forks 12 extending rearwardly from a bracket 13 mounted upon a stem 14 carried by the frame of the plough. The slipper comprises a spring steel plate 17 welded at one end to a pin 20 mounted in slots in a bracket 22, which is secured by lugs 24 to the bracket 13. The disc passes through a slot 26 in the slipper which is provided with a rearward extension 18 on the side adjacent to the share 11. The corresponding extension 27 on the opposite side of the disc may be omitted if desired.
