602,047. Manhole frames and covers. ROBINSON & KERSHAW, Ltd., KERSHAW, sen., J., KERSHAW, jun., J., KERSHAW, L. W., and MOSS, J. F. Oct. 12, 1945, No. 26677. [Class 107] A man-hole frame is fabricated from welded L-shaped angle bars having long and short webs 1. and 2. On the web 1 is welded a bar 3 so forming a channel into which fits a rim 5 welded on the lid 4. The depth of the rim 5 is such that the top surface of the lid 4 is flush with the upper edge of the bar 3 and the under surface clear of the flange 2. Slots 6 for lifting keys are provided in the cover and are sealed off by caps 7. All welding is external to the channel. The portion of the web 1 external to the channel serves as anchoring means for the frame. Rolled bar having a section of a similar configuration to that given by the bar 3 and the angle bar may be used.
