600,899. Feeding webs. WOOD NEWSPAPER MACHINERY CORPORATION. Dec. 6, 1945, No. 29896/47. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1945. Divided out of 600,894. Drawings to Specification. [Class 100(i)] In web-renewing apparatus for printing and other machines, a new web-roll is mounted with an element of its cylindrical surface parallel to a running web and movable into contact therewith to make a splice, a flexible tensioning-device constantly engages the surface of the running web opposite that engaged by the new roll and at the moment of web renewal engages the web along the span thereof between the running-web roll and the new web roll, and web-severing mechanism extends continuously transversely of the running web on the side thereof opposite to that engaged by the tensioning-device and is extensible into the running web to sever the same. The apparatus described is the same as that described in Specification 600,894 and includes a tab for the leading end of the new roll as described in Specification 594,632.
