Abstract
600,415. Reciprocating pumps for liquids. BERRY & CO., Ltd., H., WALKER, A., and FIRTH, D. June 6. 1945, No. 14235. [Class 102 (i)] In an hydraulic pump in which several spring-pressed rams are radially arranged around an operating shaft 4 and are operated in one direction by a single eccentric 7, the rams being disposed in a common plane and equally spaced from one another, and the rams are housed in a block 1 immersible in the supply liquid, the pump being driven by a vertical spindle electric motor arranged above the level of the liquid, each ram is provided with separate inlet and exhaust valves each comprising a spring-closed valve element in a block removable from the housing as a unit, The inlet valves admit liquid directly from the supply and the discharge valves deliver from the top face of the block into a common conduit or into grooves in the top of the block if the latter is deep enough to enclose the valves wholly. The tops of the plungers have screwed sockets to receive holding tools by which the plungers may be drawn clear of the shaft 4, &c. when assembling the pump. Specification 594,615 is referred to.
