Abstract

A composition comprising a dispersion of finely-divided polyvinyl chloride in liquid plasticiser, in a cold flowable condition, is introduced into a mould, and during or after such introduction the mould is heated to gel the composition, whereupon the gelled composition is removed from the mould. There may be two heating steps, the first step resulting in the formation of a skin on the wall of the mould, surplus ungelled composition being then removed from the mould and the second heating step being then carried out. The mould may also be heated before the composition is put in. The mould may be heated to different degrees at diffierent places to produce harder and softer areas. Fabric may be incorporated in the composition to strengthen it. The article may be heat treated after removal from the mould. The Provisional Specification refers to the use of polymeric resins in general, e.g. polystyrene, and states that the material may be injected between complementary faces of a mould. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 460,240 and 477,364.
