599,817. Phonograph pick-ups. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. March 16, 1945, No. 6677. Convention date, Sept. 8, 1944. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also.in Group XXXVIII] A phonograph pick-up, for varying the tuning of a resonant circuit in a frequency - modulation radio receiver, consists of a stylus 19, a coil 20, a cone 16 to transmit movement of the stylus 19 to the coil 20, and a core 10, within the coil 20, consisting of approximately equal parts 11 and 12 of highpermeability magnetic material and high conductivity non-magnetic material respectively, the coil 20 being flexibly mounted on a U- shaped member 15 of resilient material so that lateral variations of the stylus 19 produce a linear variation of inductance of the coil 20 due to variation of the amount of magnetic material within the coil 20.
