Abstract
599,644. Printing-machines. RANGER, A. W. Sept. 22,1945, No. 24585. [Class 100 (ii)] An ink duct for a printing-machine has means for setting the duct blade 8 relatively to the duct roller 1 adapted to act on the blade positively during both advance and retraction of the blade. The blade 8 is clamped at its rear edge by a bar 9 to the crossmember 4 which is pivoted to a shaft 6 on the frame 3. At its front edge the blade 8 carries a number of screws engaging internally screwthreaded sleeves 14 freely rotatable in slots in the cross-member 4 and having shoulders at each end of the slots to prevent them moving axially in the slots, so that by rotation of the various sleeves 14, the blade can be adjusted to the desired setting. The sleeves 14 are held against accidental rotation by spring washers or by piano wire twisted round them. A screwed rod 18 having a handle 23 passes freely through a hole in a block 24 pivoted to the frame 3 and through a screw-threaded hole in a block 21 pivoted to the cross-member 4, so that rotation of the handle 23 swings the cross-member 4 about the shaft 6, carrying with it the blade 8 and enabling the parts to be cleaned without disturbing the setting of the blade. An adjustable stop 27 is provided on the frame 3. Specification 573,402 is referred to. The Provisional Specification describes also blade-adjusting means comprising rods attached to the blade and passing through hollow screws arranged in tapped holes in the cross-member and projecting from the cross-member so that they can be rotated, the rods either having abutments engaging the ends of the screws or being screwthreaded to engage additional internal threads on the hollow screws, the internal and external threads on the screws being of different pitch.
