Abstract

598,247. Inflatable garments. PASK, E. A. Feb. 19, 1945, No. 4192. [Class 141] [Also in Groups XIV, XVII and XXI] An inflatable garment consists of a number of panels joined together, each panel 1 comprising impermeable outer layers 2, 3 which may be rubberised and intermediate layers 6, 7, 8 forming partitions, the outer and intermediate layers being connected together along' spaced lines 9, 10, 11, 12 parallel to the panel surfaces. The intermediate layers are of permeable material and are secured to each other by lines of stitching 11, 12 staggered in relation to each other and to the connections at 9, 10 of the intermediate to the outer layers by adhesive tape stitched to the intermediate layers and cemented to the outer layers. The diagonals of the honeycomb cells are approximately, equal and the outer 'layers of fabric are larger than the intermediate layers so that the side edges 4, 5 overlap and may be cemented or sewn together as at 13, 14 a piece of taping Z being applied on the inner surface. The side edges of the intermediate layers are not connected to the outer layers so that transference of air may take place when the panel is inflated by the inflation patch and valve 16, 17.
