Abstract

[Class 48] [Also in Group XXI] A float or buoy for fishing nets of the kind comprising an inflatable bag having means at the base for the suspension of a net therefrom, comprises a number of panels 1, 2 each having an extended base portion, the panels and extended base portions being seamed together at their adjoining edges, and the extended base portions are arranged in folded superposed formation comprising at least four thicknesses of material and sealed to close the orifice therebetween and to form an integral base structure of substantial thickness. The buoy may be made of rubberized fabric and the extended base portions may be sealed together by vulcanizing. The edges of the panels are overlapped with sealing compound therebetween and outer sealing tape 4 superposed upon the joints. Additional strips of para tape or rubber 7, 8 may be inserted between the folded extended base portions before sealing to strengthen the base. An inflating valve is provided in a small top panel. A pair of cheek plates 11 having holes 14 and secured to the base portion 6 by bolts or rivets 12 provide means for attaching a net.
