[Class 83 (iii)] In a milling or like machine, a table 3 adjustable vertically on a pillar 1 by means of a jack 10 has a rectangular cut out that fits round three sides of the pillar and is closed by a plate 4 secured by clamp ing screws. A car riage 5 carrying a transversely - slid ing carriage 6 is slidably mounted on guideways extending the whole length of the table and has a cut-out similar to that on the table to obtain the maximum amount of guide surface. One or more wedges 11 may be fitted to take up play. An over-arm 7 for supporting the cutter spindle is provided.
