Abstract
598,182. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. LOMBARD, A. A. March 8, 1945, No. 5795. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVI] In a jet propulsion unit the automatic temperature control for adjusting the jet pipe nozzle area comprises a temperature sensitive device 16 located within the jet pipe and in contact with a spring-loaded lever 15 that is coupled with a piston valve 14 of a hydraulic system. Movement of the lever 15 and thus of the valve 14 permits liquid under pressure to flow from the pump 2 past the relief valve 3 through the pipe 6 to a cylinder end of a hydraulic motor 4 to move the piston which is connected to a pair of links 13 that operate the pivotally mounted segments 12 about the extreme end of the jet pipe ; liquid exhausted from the opposite end of the cylinder of the motor 4 returns to the reservoir 2 via the valve 5 and the drain connections 7 or 8.
