Abstract

597,881. Bearings. WRIGHT, H. CLAYTON-. Oct. 19, 1944, No. 20221. [Class 12 (i)] An undivided bearing bush is made of rubber and has moulded integrally therewith a layer of rubber embodying graphite or other material to give a self-lubricated bearing surface, on which the sliding occurs. A layer of rubber composition containing for example oil and graphite is inserted first in a mould and thereafter the main body of rubber is added and the whole then vulcanized. Fig. 1 shows a bush 1 with a spherical bearing surface 2 the whole being clamped in a fixed manner and under compression by washer and screw 8 at the reduced and squared end 6 of a shaft 4; the spherical bearing head rotates in a corresponding seating on a member 5 and is pressed against such seating by a plate spring 9. Fig. 2 shows a cylindrical bush 12 with an exterior groove by which it can be sprung into an aperture of a support plate 15 ; the self-lubricated inner bore 13 of the bush serves to guide an axially moving rod 16.
