Abstract
597,011. Bolt-hole bushes. DEHN, F. B. (Victory Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 8, 1945, No. 20347. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXIII] A bush for holes in metal plates, for example, those forming parts of aircraft bodies, to pass electric conduits or conductors or other control members, is made from synthetic resin in two parts, of which one expands the other to lock the parts in place in the hole. The bush is stated to have the effect of a rivet in holding plates together. The inner member 5, Fig. 2, has a series of tongues 7 extending upwards from its lower end and the ends of these tongues are expanded to engage beneath the plates by an outer member having a, shoulder 12, and a tapering end that passes between the tongues and the tubular part 5. The two members are a frictional fit, one on the other. In a modification, an outer member, comprising a ring 16, with depending tongues 17, having enlargements 18 notched to engage the plates is expanded by an inner member 21, in the form of a plain tube.
