Abstract

596,346. Reflection-reducing coatings. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. July 17, 1945, No. 18296. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1944. Drawings to Specification. [Class 97 (i)] A solution with which a glass surface may be treated to produce a reflection-reducing coating is prepared by dissolving a piece of glass in fluosilicic acid. Alternatively a mixture of hydrofluoric acid with either sulphuric, nitric, or phosphoric acid or their salts may be used. Instead of glass the fluosilicic acid solution may have added thereto silica and sodium and calcium fluosilicates to form the treating solution. For use at temperatures above 45‹ C. suitable quantities of NaOH must be added to the treating solution. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 contains a detailed description of the mechanism of the reaction. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
