[Class 87 (ii)] Dough from a hopper 1 is sheeted by rolls 2, 3, of which the roll 2 is laterally adjustable and the dough sheet is carried by a belt 4 beneath a flap 9 which is convex to the belt and is inclined downwards and forwards in the direction of movement of the belt. The flap is pivoted on a fixed axis 9a and has pivoted thereto a ratchet bar 10. As the leading edge of the dough sheet is turned over, the flap is raised and the ratchet engages a stop 12, which holds the flap in the raised position. The dough sheet passes on and its coiling is completed by a long flap 13 pivoted at 13a. As the flap 13 rises, a tail-piece 14 thereon disengages the bar 10 from the stop, and flap 9 falls on to the belt ready for another operation. According to the Provisional Specification (a) the rolls may be spring-loaded and fitted with a safety cut-out device operated by the rolls parting when the operator's hand is caught therein, (b) the machine may be used as a rolling- machine only by disposing a shoot below the rolls to direct rolled dough away from the belt, and (c) the coiled dough pieces may be rolled between the under side of the belt and an adjustable pressure board.
