Abstract

232,336. Smith, W. H. Jan. 18, 1924. Stationary-mould machines ; pressing dies.-A press, particularly for curved tiles, comprises a head B carried by rods B<1> pivoted at B<3> adapted to be swung aside from the mould K<3> to give a trowelled finish to the article. The radius of swing of the head is such that it gradually lifts from the mould. A lever H, pivoted at H<1> to an extension of the mould, facilitates swinging of the head, the operator pressing with one hand against the die J and operating the lever with the other to avoid any tendency to overturn the machine. The lever is normally held by a spring H<3> against a stop H<2> and acts as a stop for the head. Where the die J is furnished with embossing portions, these are adapted to be withdrawn into the die by screw &c. mechanism to permit of the swinging movement of the head.
