Abstract

Casting and moulding hollow-ware; presses; pressing plungers and dies; heating dies.-In die presses for moulding cup handles and other articles from day, of the type comprising two hinged parts e, f, one of which is secured to the bench a, the detachable dies X, Y have their front and back edges inclined to engage correspondingly undercut, guideways on the parts e, f. To receive the die X, the lower portion e is formed with an undercut guideway e<3> and a detachable guide e<4> secured in position by a set-screw e<5>. The die Y is secured by an undercut guideway f<4> and by an inclined face f<5> of a bolt i. To allow surplus clay to escape, a hole V is provided in the lower die X and corresponding holes U are formed in the part e in the work-bench. The dies are heated either by gas or electrically, and in the former case the undersurfaces are ribbed as at n. The end of the upper part f is formed as a handle f<3>, which may have a covering of asbestos or other non-conductor of heat.
