Abstract

594,650. Valve generators. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd.July 17, 1944, No. 13659. Convention date, Oct. 17,. 1942. [Classes 39 (i), 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A push-pull generator for frequencies of the order of 1000 megacycles comprises a pair of coaxial rings 18, 19 in which two triodes are mounted with their grids connected to the inner and their anodes to the outer ring. Four bridging capacities 30 . . . 33 for tuning are carried by a pair of arms controlled through a gear-box by a single knob in such a way that the symmetry of the arrangement is always maintained. The heater wires pass through a pair of tubular cathode leads which are tuned by a piston 28. If the shielding cover 24 is removed, the apparatus radiates a beam. In a modification, Fig. 6, a generator, which is similar to that just described except that the cathode leads are housed in individual tunable projections 53, 54, is coupled via these leads and coupling loops 74, 75 with an amplifier of similar construction.
