[Class 20(ii)] [Also in Group XIV] Ductile metal strip or plate is formed with regularly positioned holes and slots and with defined zones of relative weakness whereby the strip &c. may be cut or bent to form components such as brackets, connecting plates for timber, light built-up girders and other fittings for constructional or repair work without special tools or equipment, the holes and slots providing a wide range of registering apertures for the passage of securing bolts, &c. The strip may have holes 2, Fig. 1, and slots 3 at regular spacing, with edge recesses 4 to provide local weakness for bending or severing a length of the strip. Alternatively, the local weakening may be provided by transverse grooves 5, Fig. 4, on one or both faces of the strip. The strip may have two lines of slots and holes with an intermediate longitudinal line of weakness so that the strip may be bent to angle section. Plates of the form shown in Fig. 13 or of H, trapezoidal or other form may have holes and slots 2, 3 and weakening recesses 4 so that the plates may be bent to form various fittings. Various applications of the components, such as a bracket for carrying cables, wires, &c., Fig. 5, a light built-up girder, Fig. 11, a table or platform frame, Fig. 21, and a timber-connector, are described in the Specification.
