Abstract
594,023. Spray-producers. GLENNY, G. F. June 4, 1945, No. 14005. [Class 69 (iii)] A spraying nozzle, e.g. for spraying fruit trees, comprises, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, a tubular body 1 within which a jet member is clamped by the attachment of the internally. threaded end 2 of the body to a supply tube &c., and a sleeve 10 held within the body by a union nut 12 en. gaging a flange 11 on the sleeve. One or more ports 13 are provided in the sleeve for the admission of air tc atomise the liquid passing through the jet member. As shown, the latter comprises an inner portion 4 and an outer portion 7, the internal diameter of the portion 4 decreasing in steps towards its delivery end which is in ternally threaded to receive the portion 7. A lock-nut 9 on the portion 7 enables the composite length of the jet member to be varied. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the jet member is formed as a single tube. According to the Provisional Specification, a wider spray may be produced by replacing the sleeve 10 by a disc having a central hole in line with the jet bore. Alternatively, the liquid may be allowed to issue directly from the jet bore.
