Abstract
593,448. Gateposts. RICHARDSON, S. H. May 30, 1945, No. 13503. [Class 45] Two gateposts A, B forming a gateway have their lower parts, which are disposed below the ground, connected together by cross-bracing C attached to each post at at least two spaced points D to form a rigid structure. As shown in Fig. 1, the posts, which may be made of metal tube, reinforced concrete, wood, asbestos cement pipe, &c., are each connected by clips D to a pair of galvanized tubes or rods C. The two pairs of tubes or rods are connected, at their ends remote from the posts, to a plate F by a pair of U-shaped clips G, which pass through the plate and each embrace two of the rods or tubes. Additional bracing members may be provided. In a modification, Fig. 4, the cross-bracing comprises two V-shaped members L, M connected by interengaging tubular extensions L<SP>1</SP>, M<SP>1</SP>.
