Abstract
591,431. Reinforced concrete; posts. LEE, D. H. May 7, 1945, No. 11531. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (iv)] Reinforced concrete columns, &c. A, B, are interconnected by the engagement of axially disposed metal tubes C, H, projecting from their ends and the column reinforcement bars E, F, extend into the jointing space around the tubes. The tubes may be a sliding fit or have a bayonet clip, set screws or screw threads and each be secured to a metal plate D, G, forming the end of the pre-cast concrete; the main reinforcing bars, E, F, may pass through holes in the plates and overlap or be bent round to be concreted into an adjacent beam. The gap between the columns, which may accommodate reinforcement from one or more beams, is subsequently concreted. The tubes may be apertured to permit welding of the tubes or pressure grouting.
