897,476. Cavity walls. LAZZI, F. Feb. 9, 1961 [Aug. 8, 1960], No. 4812/61. Class 20(4) A cavity wall comprises pairs of spaced panels 10 connected to pilasters which each consist of two channel elements having flat bases 1 bolted together at 4 and divergent flanges 3 forming four recesses for receiving the correspondingly flanged edges 11 of the panels 10. The bases of the channels may be relatively broad as at 1 and have an elongated aperture 2 or may be narrower as at 7. Metal tie rods 6, 6a are provided in registering grooves in the bases 1, 7 respectively. The panels 10 are forced apart by a screwthreaded rod 15 engaging in a socket 16 on one panel and passing through a threaded bush 17 on the other. The pilasters and panels are made of mesh-reinforced concrete.
