Abstract
636,546. Casting reinforced concrete walls &c. in situ reinforced concrete. SYMONDS, R. Feb. 25, 1947, No. 5461. Convention date, March 28, 1946] [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] A re-inforced concrete wall is cast in situ course by course by detachably securing and firmly bracing the shuttering 11, Fig. I, e.g. waterproofed plywood boards, to a metallic skeleton framework constituting the re-inforcement and comprising tubular spacing elements 6 welded to spaced verticals 7 together with inclined rods 8 supporting horizontal rods 9. Through each tube 6 and holes 10 in the boards 11 is passed a rod 12 welded at one end to a bracket 15, Fig. 4, the other screw threaded end receiving a bracket 16 and nut 17 to clamp the opposed boards 11 against the ends of the tube 6. The brackets 15, 16 which themselves serve as bracing members, support horizontally disposed bracing boards 18 which are in turn braced by vertical boards 21, Fig. 2, secured to the brackets by means of lugs 22 and to a previously formed wall portion by means of screwed rods 24 passing through a tube 6 already embedded in the wall and bracing frames 26. Additional re-inforcing rods 28, Fig. 1, interwoven with the rods 9 may be included in the framework. The embedded tubes 6 may be used in combination with struts &c. for supporting scaffolding and the boards 11 may be coated with oil to prevent adhesion to the concrete.
