593,164. Cutting and slicing potatoes &c. PENNY, JOHNSON, Ltd., and CLARSON, E. June 4, 1945, No. 14020. [Class 5 (i)] Potatoes from a hopper a fall through an opening d<SP>1</SP> into a box-like aperture e<SP>1</SP> in a reciprocating plunger c which forces them as they fall against fixed horizontal and stationary knives f, k, j, beyond which the chips fall through the opening h<SP>1</SP>. The face e<SP>2</SP> of the plunger is overhung and serrated to prevent the potatoes rising, and the lower part formed with pushers p aligned with the spaces between the blades, for expelling the chips. A guard b traverses the hopper. The undersides of the horizontal blades are recessed or tapered behind the ground edges.
