592,504. Valves controlled by auxiliary valves. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Nov. 21, 1944, No. 23104. Convention date, Nov. 24, 1943. [Class 135] A valve for actuating, e.g., pneumaticallyoperated electrical circuit breakers of the kind operable only if a certain air pressure is available, comprises a housing 14, Fig. 1, having an inlet 15, an outlet 16, and an exhaust port 17. The space 5 between the large end of the spring- loaded differential piston 1 and the housing can be opened to the atmosphere through an auxiliary valve 6 having. an axially bored extension sliding in an axial bore in the piston. Normally, the piston, urged by the spring 4 and pressure air acting on the large end via the ports 9 and the bleed hole 10 in the auxiliary valve extension, seats over the inlet 15 so that only a part of the small end is exposed to the inlet pressure. On opening the auxiliary valve, the ports 9 are closed, the force on the large end decreases, and, when a desired pressure is available at the inlet, the small end leaves its seat so that air pressure acts over the whole of the smaller end to move the piston rapidly downwards. In a modification, a port 11, Fig. 2, is closed by a spindle when the auxiliary valve is opened and pressure air can leak between the spindle and the piston at 10<1>.
