Abstract

559,788. Vatves. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Aug. 28, 1942, No. 12169. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1941, [Class 135] A pressure responsive pilot valve of the kind having a double-faced valve member, one face co-operating with a fixed seat to control the supply of pressure fluid, the other cooperating with a movable seat to control the exhaust has the bore in which the movable seat slides not greater in diameter than the passage through the fixed seat. In the form shown in the Figure a cylindrical casing has a pressure inlet port 60, a cylinder port 62 and an exhaust port 64 communication between the port 62 and the ports 60, 64 being controlled by a double-faced valve 70 co-operating with seats on the casing and on a movable spindle 84. This spindle which works through a ring packing 80 held in place by a cage 82 has an axial passage 88 leading through radial passages 90 and ports in the cage to the exhaust passage 64. The valve is actuated by a piston 98 provided with a packing 100 and with an adjustable tappet 102 secured by a lock-nut 104. The piston is loaded by a series of Belleville spring washers 94 and is acted on by inlet pressure admitted to the chamber below the piston by a longitudinal passage 66 connected to the inlet port 60. In a modification the two valve faces are formed on separate members having a lost-motion connection. Specification 7694/15, [Class 135], is referred to.
