[Class 114] A V.P. propeller with hollow blades mounted on ball bearings in their roots has heated gases passed through its blades to prevent ice formation. The gases pass along the tube 110 (the air space 120 keeping the shaft 80 cool) and through the bore 103 of the studs 59 to the hollow blades.
