Abstract
<PICT:0591427/III/1> An apparatus for treating metal articles with liquids comprises a series of tanks for different liquids, a travelling hood containing spraying nozzles and means for suspending the articles to be treated and one or more pumps each with a depending suction pipe for introduction into each tank in turn mounted to travel with the hood. As shown, a refrigerator body 27 mounted in a jig for rotation in bearings 33 by a motor 30 and gearing 31 is supported within a hood 10 which contains sprays 26 supplied by a pump 20 having a suction pipe 22 submerged in the liquid. The hood may be supported by rods 12 and sleeves 11 from a carriage and raised and lowered by a cable gear. The pump is kept running while the hood is raised from one tank so that the pipe system may be cleared of the liquid of that tank before it is introduced into the next.
