Abstract

Engineering components are cleaned and/or degreased by passing them on trolleys through a housing 10 and spraying them with a cleaning <PICT:1103062/C6-C7/1> fluid, which is discharged under pressure through nozzles in horizontal pipes 20 while the pipes are oscillated about their longitudinal axes. The pipes 20 may be oscillated by rods 26 and a rotating crank-shaft 28 driven by an electric motor 29. The cleaning fluid is stored in a tank heated by a heater 17 and pumped to the pipes 20, then the used fluid passes through filters 13, 14 and 19 back to the tank 16 to be reused. The cleaning fluid may be a heated alkaline solution and successive spraying of water and a heated alkaline solution may be done in adjacent cabinets.
