899,045. Cleaning metals. SPRUCE, E. U. Aug. 3, 1960, No. 26912/60. Class 82(2). A degreasing and rinsing apparatus such as for cleaning motor car components comprises a degreasing tank A and a rinse tank B each subdivided into four compartments; namely, a main compartment, at the base of which is a perforated plate 7, a residue compartment 9, a heating compartment 10, and a suction compartment 3, to which may be attached a circulating unit 5 driven by a motor 18. The articles to be cleaned or rinsed, preferably placed in baskets 6, are subjected to the action of swift flowing cleaning or rinsing liquid, the flow of which is maintained by the circulating units which comprise screw propellers 31. Additionally a pump impeller may be used in either of the tanks but preferably only in the rinse tank where it is connected to a rinse brush 15 to be used on a rinse sink 13 for spraying liquid over the articles; spillage from the brush drains back into the rinse tank through a pipe 16. In each tank liquid flows from the propeller end across the main compartment through a perforated plate 12 into the heating compartment containing heaters 11, and into the suction compartment back to the propeller to complete the cycle.
