Abstract

Apparatus for washing ink baths, dishes and tanks used in printing machines comprises a closed washing vessel 8, Fig. 5 (not shown), in which the articles to be cleaned are suspended to be sprayed with washing liquid, e.g. acetone, by parallel spray pipes 1-7, mounted in end bearings and rocked about their longitudinal axes, the liquid being circulated between the bottom of the vessel and the spray pipes by a pump 26. The spray pipes 1-7 are rocked my mechanism comprising a motor driven eccentric disc (not shown) connected through a system of levers and discs to the pipes. To prevent the washing liquid from becoming excessively dirty, some of the liquid is continuously drawn off from the intake chamber 25 by a pump 36 and fed to an evaporator 37, from which vapour passes to cooling pipes 38. The cooled distillate is collected in a reserve tank 30, from which it can be drawn as required.
