Abstract
590,724. Moulds for composition boards. HEARNSHAW & CO. (MORECAMBE), Ltd., and HEARNSHAW, C. May 23, 1944, No. 21803/46. Divided out of 590,686. [Class 87 (ii)] An open mould for the manufacture of composition boards, particularly in accordance with the method claimed and described in Specification 590,686, comprises a metal base plate 10, wooden or metallic bars 11 secured to its upper face and forming the sides of the mould, and metallic or other bars 14 secured to the underface of the plate and extending beyond its edges to form handles. Additional strengthening transverse battens 15 and a central longitudinal stiffener may be provided, and the handles 14 may run lengthwise of the mould, in which case the bars 15 are rebated to accommodate the handles. The sides may be secured to the base by flat-headed countersunk bolts 12 inserted from above and secured by wing nuts beneath the mould. The mould base extends beyond the longer sides to accommodate hardwood strips, slightly greater in depth than the mould sides, for stacking purposes. Alternatively the bolts may be inserted from below, the wing nuts then being above and themselves serving as spacers for stacking. A deeper mould may be obtained by superimposing two sets of mould side members.
