Abstract

590,358. Heat treatment furnaces. FALLON, J. April 19, 1945, No. 9788. [Class 51 (ii)] A heat treatment furnace of the type incorporating a bell type container having a base seal is characterized by a separate and detachable furnace cover which is sealed in relation to the upper part of the furnace side walls, adjacent the upper part of the bell type container. The furnace base a may carry two sealing rings, b<1> adapted to seal the bell-type container b and a<1> sealing the walls c of the open-topped container, which carries a removable cover d making a sealed joint with the walls c at d<1> and with the bell-type container b at d<2>. Heating or purging gases may be introduced into the container b and circulated by the fan g and the cover d may be removed by lifting gear on the swing arm h.
