Abstract
1501185 Electric furnaces; removing waste products in industrial processes ELKEMSPIGERVERKET AS 15 Sept 1975 37798/75 Addition to 1480805 Headings F4B and F4X In an electric melting furnace comprising a furnace pot 1 enclosing a hollow open-bottomed coaxial member 6 mounted for oscillation or rotation about the common axis and having pushers 12 for inducing inward movement of the charge 5 towards the centre of the furnace, an annular gas collection chamber 7 is defined between the lining 2 of the furnace pot and the hollow member 6, gas being removed from said chamber 7 through one or more offtake pipes 11 to which suction is applied. The top of the annular collection chamber 7 is closed by a cover 9 which is sealed by means of a sand seal 10, the cover 9 either moving with said rotating or oscillating member 6 as shown, or remaining stationary with respect thereto.
