Abstract

The citrate-solubility of Thomas slag is improved by reaction thereof with sodium slag derived from the desulphurization of pig iron, which may be added whilst molten or in solid form to the liquid Thomas slag it at leaves the converter. Alternatively, the two slags, in the solid state, may be ground, mixed, and heated up to sintering, say 1000-1100 DEG C., in a rotary or fixed furnace with continuous or alternating operation.
