Abstract

590,200. Load-handling machines. AKTIEBOLAGET ATLAS DIESEL, and RYD, S. E. Dec. 30, 1944, No. 26178. [Class 78(iii)] [Also in Group XXI] A mechanical shovel comprises a mobile truck with a scoop or dipper, filled at one end of the truck and then carried through a curved path over the truck to be emptied at its other end. During filling the shovel is dumped in front of the truck and pushed into the pile by propulsion of the truck. In Figs. 1 and 2 a base 1 is mounted on wheels 2, and driven by a motor 3. A turntable 4 is mounted on the base and carries a frame 5. Inside the frame are mounted two rails 6, inclined towards the front of the truck and on which a rocker 7 may travel. The rocker has a scoop 8 attachedthereto and is made to roll on the rails 6 by means of a chain 10 winding on to a winch 11. The scoop is thus filled at the front end of the truck, then made to take a circular path over the truck by means of the rocker travelling over the rails and made to discharge its contents at the rear end of the truck. A spindle 14 is mounted on the front end of the truck and is adapted to engage recesses 15 on the rocker, Figs. 4 and 5, so that when the scoop is in the position for filling, Fig. 1, the thrust is shared between the spindle and the chain.
