Abstract

965,812. Luffing arm machines on vehicles. A. R. CLAY. Dec. 21, 1961 [Sept. 20, 1960; Jan. 24, 1961], Nos. 32212/60 and 2708/61. Headings B8E and B8H. [Also in Division E1] Telescopic arms 1, 5, Fig. 1, extended by a ram 3 within the member 1 and swung about pivots 2 by double acting hydraulic rams 6 have lifting means connected between their outer ends. A bucket 9 is mounted on the arms which is filled by extending arms 1, 5, whilst a sprag 10 prevents the vehicle from moving backwards. The bucket is pivoted and automatically discharges itself. Alternatively the bucket may be emptied by a ram. In a second embodiment two arms 11, Fig. 3, which together form a V, are pivoted about their attachment to arms 5 by a ram or rams 13. An eye 12 is provided for a lifting hook.
